Enchanting Creation

On ochre backgrounds and pigments, strange figures appear: half woman, half ant. They appear as visions, seeming to leap up from nowhere, etched against the burning earth and inviting us to reflect. These paintings always have an element of mystery about them, transcending composition. The red of African soil, ochre and yellow as a metaphor of the sun, and gold to accentuate the sensation of heat. We are fascinated and troubled by the grace and fragility of these figures. With all the sensitivity of the artist, Ona takes us on intellectual and sentimental meanderings, and we are happy to follow.
